SENER Group joins the United Nations Global Compact

12/01/2022

The SENER Group is starting 2022 with good news in terms of sustainability and good corporate governance, namely its adherence to the United Nations Global Compact.

This compact responds to a United Nations call to companies and organizations to align their strategies and operations with ten universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and joins the UN mandate to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the business sector.

The SENER Group is thus committed to consolidating its good governance measures by endorsing the Global Compact, which stresses that the company’s value system must take precedence when doing business. This strategy is already part of SENER’s corporate principles, but the group reaffirms it by joining the Global Compact.

The Global Compact points to these Ten Principles as a first step towards corporate sustainability, which means operating in ways that, at a minimum, meet fundamental responsibilities in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. As the organization itself says, by incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into their strategies, companies are not only upholding their basic responsibilities to people and planet, but also setting the stage for long-term success.

The United Nations Global Compact is an initiative with more than 20 years of experience and more than 70 local networks around the world, including the Spanish network, which is, since its creation, one of the first national platforms of the Global Compact and the local network with the largest number of adhered entities, with a total of 1,809.
