Official Opening of Tactix-Sener Australian Headquarters in Sydney’s Historic The Rocks District

09/11/2023

The company plans to expand its current workforce of over 250 in Australia by doubling its staff within the next three years, a growth strategy bolstered by Sener’s worldwide proficiency in high-speed rail projects and energy-efficient solutions.

Tactix-Sener – a new company formed when one of Spain’s largest engineering and technology firms, Sener, bought a stake in Australian-based company Tactix Group – last night officially opened its new Australian Headquarters at 80 George Street, The Rocks, Sydney, along with the Ambassador of Spain to Australia. Situated in a historical building, the new office offers a contemporary interior design, with views of Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Graced by esteemed guests, including Her Excellency Ms Alicia Moral Revilla, Ambassador of Spain to Australia, Mr Rodrigo Tilve, Chief Economic and Trade Commissioner, and Ms Belen Figuerola, Economic and Trade Commissioner from the Economic and Trade Commission of Spain in Australia, the celebratory evening took place with over 60 staff members at the new Headquarters on Wednesday 8 November 2023. The presence of these distinguished dignitaries underscores the significance of the Tactix-Sener partnership in fostering international collaboration.

The opening event commenced with a Welcome to Country Ceremony, paying tribute to the First Nations heritage of Australia, followed by presentations by Ben Neary, CEO of Tactix-Sener and, visiting from Spain,  Jorge Sendagorta Cudós, CEO of Sener Group. The event culminated in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the official opening of the Tactix-Sener Australian Headquarters.

Jorge Sendagorta Cudós, CEO of Sener Group, said: “Australia represents a growing market for Sener, where we already count with more than 250 highly skilled professionals. The opening of these new offices, in Sydney’s iconic Rocks District, is a consequence of this growth and strengthens our commitment with the country. We hope these new offices will help us continue delivering and creating value for our clients in the Australian infrastructure market.”

The Tactix-Sener merger marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between two powerhouse entities aiming to transform Australia’s mass transit, rail, and road projects. Sener, a Spanish engineering and technology group present in 21 countries and active in mobility, advanced facilities, energy, marine and aerospace sectors, acquired in 2022 a controlling 60% stake in Australian consultancy Tactix Group, solidifying its presence in the country where it has operated since 2016.

The new company, operating under the name Tactix-Sener, offers a comprehensive range of services, leveraging Sener’s vast resources and infrastructure, including systems assurance and integration services to design activities across more than 15 disciplines. Tactix’s management team maintains the same roles and shareholding structure.

Ben Neary, CEO of Tactix-Sener’s Australian operations, said: “the new company has allowed us to take on much bigger projects – including our first together, for which we have nearly completed the detailed engineering design with partner Arcadis, of the $1.3 billion Coffs Harbour bypass.”

Coffs Harbour bypass will provide a four-lane divided highway and is a priority for the Australian and New South Wales governments because of the Pacific Highway’s critical value to Australia’s economy. The bypass will form a key link in this vital piece of the nation’s infrastructure, which connects Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

Tactix-Sener is poised to make a significant impact in Australia’s thriving infrastructure sector, concentrating on road, rail, and offshore wind projects. With an ambitious vision, the company plans to expand its current workforce of over 250 in Australia by doubling its staff within the next three years. This growth strategy is bolstered by Sener’s worldwide proficiency in high-speed rail projects and energy-efficient solutions, positioning Tactix-Sener as a formidable player in the Australian infrastructure landscape.
