linked to sustainability for years
At Sener, we view sustainability in a broad sense, in line with best ESG (Environment, Society and Governance) practices and criteria, which have now become as necessary as they are mandatory in corporate environments.
Companies must be actors for change and transformation, boosting a fairer and more solidary world for upcoming generations. Due to this belief, at Sener we have put different actions into effect, gathered in this first sustainability report.
Access to the reportAt Sener, we have always pursued as our ultimate goal to achieve a more sustainable society by being involved in the vision and conceptualization of the engineering designs on which it works for its customers, as well as in its commitment to providing sustainable mobility alternatives and access to renewable energies through the design, construction and start-up of renewable energy plants.
Our sustainability strategy is based on three solid pillars that contribute in equal measure to our vision and ambition in this field, specifically:
For each of these three blocks, we have developed a series of goals, commitments and actions, and we have defined indicators that will allow us to properly measure their trends.
We have a Sustainability Director who is responsible for directing and coordinating the efforts of businesses and the strategic plan to meet the goals defined for the three main blocks that underpin sustainability.
Sustainability management reports on periodically to the Group’s Management Committee and every six months to the Board of Directors.
In keeping with the 2030 Agenda, we are firmly committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a commitment supported by concrete evidence from the activities and projects through which it contributes to 13 of the 17 existing SDGs.
We have been part of the United Nations Global Compact iniciative, which encourages its members to defend, comply with and contribute to the ten universal principles on human rights, labor standards, environment and anti-corruption.
With this Policy, we want to integrate ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) criteria into our procurement processes in order to prevent and mitigate any possible adverse impacts associated with this activity, ensuring that we engage in responsible practices that are consistent with our sustainability strategy, while preserving the environment and generating a positive impact for society.
Carbon Footprint Model
In 2022, we completed the development of the scorecard that allows us to view the total tons of CO2 equivalent through various breakdowns and readings, which lets us identify the most consistent measures to reduce our carbon footprint. In this regard, we have completed the training of the Climate Ambition Accelerator program, based on the Science-Based Targets (SBT) methodology, to start designing its CO2 Footprint Reduction Plan.
