By way of example, we highlight the LNG on Wheels project for Naturgy in which we conducted a fleet analysis to transform an existing ship into a prototype LNG bunkering ship design that did not exist beforehand. It comprises an LNG tanker-truck ship capable of refueling from a small off-shore carrier and furthermore, LNG bunkering to vessels powered by dual-fuel LNG engines. Once in port, the liquefied natural gas is distributed directly via tanker trucks. An innovative study on the development of new optimized solutions where LNG is fostered as an alternative fuel.
We conceptualize and design innovative prototypes, geared towards both future manufacturing and meeting the ship owner’s specific needs while in operation. We convert the ship owner’s original ideas into real products and we analyze the viability thereof by striving for efficiency, differentiation and high quality design.
As they are such innovative designs, they are not subject to the usual regulations. For this reason, we seek the initial approval from one or more classification societies, taking into account the developments in documentation and risk analysis with a view to ensuring that the prototype is safe and non-polluting.
