High Gain Antenna Gimbal (HGAG) for the rover Perseverance of the Mars 2020 mission
We are actively participating in the development, maintenance and improvement of the Gate Terminal regasification plant in Rotterdam, spanning its construction to its capacity expansion.
Gate Terminal is currently the continent’s LNG hub, as it contributes to the natural gas supply in the Netherlands and Northwest Europe. The terminal receives LNG for its customers, stores it, regasifies it and then supplies it to the gas transport network for distribution to households and industry.
Gate Terminal B.V. entrusted Sener on four occasions with the design, construction and expansion of this terminal.
We are participating as the main contractor, under the EPC modality, in the engineering, procurement and construction of the terminal in consortium with Techint, Entrepose and Vinci.
The scope of the contract included the execution of the terminal with three storage tanks with a capacity of 180,000 m3 each and an initial export of 12 BCMa (Billion Cubic Metres per Annum), as well as two docks capable of simultaneously unloading LNG vessels of up to 267,000 m3. Within the construction consortium, Sener participates in the project’s management, procurement and construction, and we were responsible for the execution management and the commissioning management, as well as for carrying out the engineering activities.
Following Gate Terminal’s turnkey delivery in 2011, we were once again contracted to provide the engineering, procurement and construction services (EPCM) required to maintain and improve the regasification plant.
In 2022, Gate Terminal B.V. initiated the terminal’s extension project, which consists of two phases: increasing the plant’s natural gas send-out capacity with an additional 1.5 BCMa in a first phase (Extra Send-Out project); and an additional capacity of 2.5 BCMa and a 4th LNG tank in a second phase, reaching a total send-out capacity of 16 BCMa.
We have carried out the engineering services and the procurement and construction management (EPCM) services of the send-out capacity expansion works with an additional 1.5 BCMa, bringing the total nameplate capacity from 12 BCMA to 13.5 BCMA.
The works consisted of the installation of a vaporiser and a high-pressure liquefied natural gas (LNG) pump together with all its associated facilities, such as equipment foundations, interconnection of piping and racks, power supply and process control. In addition, a new seawater pump was also supplied.
Sener has developed the required detailed engineering, together with the procurement management of all supplies, on behalf of Gate Terminal, and we have been in charge of the construction supervision.
Thanks to this project, Gate Terminal increases the capacity to supply gas from the sea to Northwest Europe and, therefore, advance on the path to the European continent’s energy independence.
In collaboration with VINCI Construction Grands Projets – Entrepose Contracting and Sacyr Proyecta, we have been selected by Gate Terminal to execute a new expansion of the terminal in order to increase the capacity to supply natural gas from the plant and to connect the fourth LNG tank to the existing plant, together with a new BOG system.
In this new project, Sener is carrying out engineering services, as well as the project management, including procurement and construction management services. The works consisted of the installation of two vaporisers (ORV), a high-pressure liquefied natural gas (LNG) pump and a BOG compressor together with all its associated facilities, such as equipment foundations, interconnection of piping and racks, power supply and process control. Two new seawater pumps will also be installed.
