We know that the future belongs to those who collaborate and establish partnerships, a conviction with which we participate in defence programs of vital importance for our environment. This is how we put our finishing touch on all our solutions throughout their entire life cycle, from design to maintenance: electromechanical systems, communications (COMINT, datalinks, microwaves and radio frequency), autonomous navigation and aircraft modernization.
We design and mass-produce actuators to control aerodynamic surfaces in missiles and guided systems. Similarly, we develop deployment and locking mechanisms for structures and fins, and electromechanical stabilization and optical pointing systems.
With more than 25 years of experience, we are a recognized centre of excellence in Europe in the design, development, production, integration, testing and logistical support of Attitude and Orbit Control Systems for the defence industry, having participated in the main European missile programs such as METEOR, RBS 70 NG, Iris-T AA, Iris-T SL and Taurus KEPD350, among others.
With extensive mass production capabilities, we qualify and test our equipment at our own facilities, in addition to providing logistical support and technical assistance for the final testing and final assembly lines of our customers.
The Communications line is one of Sener Aerospace’s product development pillars. With a clear growth strategy in this field, we focus on 3 fundamental areas with the aim of providing end-to-end solutions for multiplatform applications in all domains (land, sea, air and space):
In relation to COMINT (Communications Intelligence) systems and components, we design and produce equipment for to receive and find the direction of communications signals along the entire frequency spectrum, from HF to mobile communications.
Our technical team demonstrates a high level of excellence and is capable of not only integrating third party systems, but also designing, manufacturing and supplying complete subsystems based on our own product.
All of which allows us to participate in this type of project, furthering our level of responsibility for various applications and for different platforms (air, naval or land).
As part of a broader strategy to develop a national data transmission capacity, we are currently leading the design of Data Link systems for command and control (C2) and multiband tactical data transmission (PAYLOAD) for high-performance unmanned aerial vehicles, both in national and international programs (EURODRONE and NGWS/FCAS).
Likewise, we have been immersed in the development of a product line of SATCOM terminals based on high-gain antenna technologies and high-performance active antenna pointing mechanisms.
In the microwave and radiofrequency field, at our facilities in Arganda del Rey (Madrid, Spain) and Cerdanyola del Vallés (Barcelona Spain), we design, test and produce the entire chain of passive and active RF equipment: from antennas for multiple applications and other passive equipment such as filters, diplexers, multiplexers, couplers and waveguides; to monolithic integrated circuits (MMIC), amplifiers (LNAs and SSPA) and transmit and receive modules (TRM) based on state-of-the-art technologies, such as gallium nitride (GaN).
RF capabilities, acquired over the years for the space telecom market with great success, are increasingly relevant in programs in the field of defence, such as the new SPAINSAT NG and programs in the near future in radar and warfare.
NaviGround is the navigation system developed by Sener Aerospace & Defence with utilities for unmanned and even manned vehicles. Its advantages include providing a precise navigation solution based on the fusion of data from different sensors.
This system can operate in both structured and unstructured environments. It is also a modular and scalable solution, which can be easily adapted and integrated according to the characteristics of the platform.
Space and Robotics Experience
This system draws on our experience in space programs as varied and successful as the GNC/AOCS systems (guidance, navigation and control/orbit and attitude control) of the scientific satellites Herschel and Planck or those of the IXV and Space Rider space vehicles.
It also collects the knowledge acquired through projects designed in the field of robotics, such as the robot for laparoscopic surgery, the Dextrous Arm for the International Space Station (ISS), the Hector and Paris robots for cleaning mirrors at solar plants, and the development of autonomous vehicles in MUROC, SUGV and APOS-UE for the European Defence Agency (EDA).
Regarding autonomous navigation solutions, Sener Aerospace develops essential elements for applications in tracked and wheeled land platforms (from 11 kg to 40 tn).
We carry out the design, development and implementation of autonomous navigation solutions for land vehicles, based on the fusion of geolocation data, obstacle recognition and other sensors that incorporate artificial intelligence modules.
Configurable to different operating modes thanks to its modularity, it offers mechanical and electronic interfaces to adapt the system to the needs of the mission.

Based on our Design Organization Approval (DOA) certification, we undertake complex aircraft retrofit and modernization programs, as we are responsible for the design, integration and certification of state-of-the-art systems, as well as critical system update projects.
In this sense, we make it possible to prolong the useful life of the devices, while adapting them to the operational needs of military and police forces. It is an efficient option for fleets, since we improve their performance at a much lower cost than that of replacing them with new models. A success story is the Spanish navy’s AB-212 helicopter Life Extension Program.
The NATO POD or CMP (Combined Multidomain POD), designed and manufactured by Sener Aerospace, is a device designed to be a versatile, flexible and multi-purpose complement for the current and future MQ-9 RPA (Remotely Piloted Aircraft) by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. The program is a joint effort of the two companies, in which Sener Aerospace specifies and designs the NATO POD based on General Atomics’ initial requirements.
The NATO POD can be fully integrated into the MQ-9, and in the future it will be integrated in the EURODRONE, with the aim of complementing its SIGINT capabilities (COMINT/ELINT/SATCOM):
It is primarily aimed at the European NATO market and other international users.
This will allow operators to easily incorporate sovereign payloads and reduce integration time, certification time and costs.
The resulting structure is certifiable under European standards, regardless of the payloads hosted or the modifications applicable to their installation.
