High Gain Antenna Gimbal (HGAG) for the rover Perseverance of the Mars 2020 mission
Sener’s microwave-assisted H2 generation technological development project, in collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the High Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), has won the “Renewable Hydrogen Innovation Award of the Year” at the RENMAD H2 Awards.
The objective of these awards, granted during one of the main meeting points of the industry, is to celebrate the excellence of the work of the main players (companies, institutions, and individuals) who contribute to advance in a context of fair transition, promoting positive social and environmental impact at European, national and regional level.
Representing Sener, Jesús María Lata, Chief Technical Engineer, Nora Castañeda, Hydrogen Business Manager, Alfonso Corbella, from the Hydrogen Business Development team, and Ager Prieto, process engineer for green hydrogen solutions and carriers, attended the event.
An innovative technology to achieve more flexibility and efficiency in hydrogen generation
Recently, the UPV, the CSIC and Sener signed an agreement to develop a pilot plant for the generation of green hydrogen, based on a disruptive technology developed by a team of researchers from the ITACA Institute of the UPV and the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ, CSIC -UPV) to generate green hydrogen using microwaves. The patented technology allows electrochemical processes to be carried out directly without the need for electrodes, which simplifies and substantially reduces its practical application. These factors allow greater flexibility and efficiency in the hydrogen generation process.
Jesús María Lata, project leader and Chief Technical Engineer at Sener, highlights the relevance of “investing in technological development to be able to propose more efficient and optimized solutions that pave the way for the scalability and application of a vector with as much potential as hydrogen. We appreciate this recognition, which highlights not only the innovative component of the project itself, but also the collaboration between the different actors that are part of this market, essential to make projects that will contribute to the decarbonization of the economy a reality.”
