Sener and UG21 will design 3 new airports in the Amazon region of Peru

Aeropuertos del Perú (AdP) has awarded the engineering and technology group Sener, in consortium with the engineering firm UG21, a new contract to carry out the pre-investment studies of the Iquitos, Pucallpa and Tarapoto airports, located in the Amazon region of the country.

In this way, the consortium will plan the development of new airports in an area that faces the challenge of improving its connectivity to boost the competitiveness and development of the region, while protecting and preserving an ecosystem of great value for the planet.

For the studies of the Iquitos, Pucallpa and Tarapoto airports, the consortium will have a period of execution of the actions of 390 days for each one. They will use BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology with sustainable building criteria that will allow to obtain LEED certification. As part of the contract, demand studies, environmental evaluations, analysis of development alternatives and simulations on the land side and air side of said aerodromes are included.

Sener and UG21 have been collaborating for years on projects in Mexico, Peru, and Colombia. Apart from this contract with AdP, in recent weeks they have also been awarded the development of the Master Plan for the Edén Airport located in Armenia (Colombia) for 2.2 million dollars, and the preparation of the Technical File for the Rehabilitation Investment of the Air Side and Marginal Expansion of the Perimeter Fence of the International Airport of the City of Trujillo (Peru), for 1.9 million dollars.

In the airport field, Sener has a long history in the design of complex and highly technical infrastructures, having developed more than 170 airports and associated facilities internationally, such as the new runway at Dublin Airport (Ireland), as well as various contracts that, together with the award of AdP in Peru, reinforce Sener’s position in Latin America. Among the latter, the profile study of the Arequipa airport and the updating of the 12 AdP master plans (also in Peru), the project management in the Northeast Airports of Brazil or the feasibility of airside actions in El Dorado airport in Bogotá (Colombia) are included.
