Did you know that artificial intelligence (AI) can significantly enhance urine culture analysis and reduce the workload in laboratories? This document presents a preliminary study evaluating the Ai5 Lab module for automated urine culture reading in a public clinical setting. The main goal is to improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce the workload in identifying urinary tract infections, particularly those caused by Escherichia coli.
The preliminary study involved the analysis of 1,000 urine samples, cultured and processed using artificial intelligence (AI) to detect bacterial growth. The results showed 100% sensitivity for microorganism growth and 97.53% for E. coli detection. Furthermore, AI proved to be a reliable tool that can significantly reduce the time needed to rule out negative samples, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on pathological samples.
