






José Antonio García Cantera, Chief Financial Officer of Santander Group, will bring to the Board his experience in financial management, international banking, capital markets, and corporate governance.
The Board of Directors of Sener Group has appointed José Antonio García Cantera as a new independent board member. In this role, he will contribute his expertise in international markets, strategic management, and corporate governance.
As an independent board member, García Cantera will participate in the oversight and strategic guidance of Sener Group, contributing to the proper functioning of the Board of Directors and providing an external and independent perspective on the company’s development. His appointment strengthens Sener’s corporate governance model and its commitment to professional, rigorous management focused on the long term.
José Antonio García Cantera holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Advanced Technical School of Industrial Engineering of Bilbao and an MBA from IE Business School. He is currently Chief Financial Officer of Santander Group, a position he has held since January 2015.
Prior to his current role, he was Head of the Global Wholesale Banking Division of Banco Santander from 2012. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Banesto, which he joined in 2003 as Senior Executive Vice President of Wholesale Banking, from which he led areas such as Corporate Banking, Treasury, Capital Markets, Banesto Bolsa, and the bank’s international operations.
His career also includes a significant period at Salomon Brothers–Citigroup, where he held senior executive positions and was a member of Citigroup EMEA’s Management Committee, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Citigroup Capital Markets UK and Citigroup EMEA. During his time as a Latin American equity analyst, he was recognised as best analyst by several specialist publications between 1995 and 2002.
