The engineering and technology group was named a ‘Catalonia Exponential Leader’ by ACCIÓ in recognition of its work in the field of innovation, its ability to have a positive social impact, and its possibilities for exponential growth through the application of technology.
The Sener engineering and technology group has been named one of the 10 most disruptive companies in Catalonia by ACCIÓ, a public agency for business competitiveness that is part of the Government of Catalonia. Sener received the “Catalonia Exponential Leaders” seal in recognition of its prominent role in the field of disruptive innovation.
The presentation took place this Thursday during the fifth edition of Exponential Day, organized by ACCIÓ. Gabriel Alarcón, the Corporate Managing Director for the Sener Group, was tasked with accepting the award. This year, the event brought together hundreds of professionals in the AXA auditorium in Barcelona. The Secretary of Business and Competitiveness and CEO of ACCIÓ, Albert Castellanos y Maduell, announced the 10 companies that received the award.
In selecting Sener as one of the ten ‘Catalonia Exponential Leaders’, ACCIÓ acknowledges the application of innovation to the company’s business model, as well as its ability to create a positive impact on society through its unique value proposition, its corporate culture and its exponential growth possibilities.
Specifically in Sener’s case, ACCIÓ noted the innovative component of the RESPIRA® solution, stating that “the company, which is known for its innovative DNA, offers a solution that supplements centralized management systems in order to, autonomously and using AI, operate HVAC systems in different spaces such as factories, airports and shopping centers.”
RESPIRA® is a smart ventilation control system that provides a comfortable temperature while boosting air quality and energy efficiency in buildings and infrastructure. The platform applies algorithms, AI and machine learning techniques to complex facilities and connected spaces, such as underground transportation, subways, airports, sports arenas, shopping malls, stations and hospitals. The result is up to a 25% reduction in electricity consumption.
In Catalonia, this system has been successfully deployed throughout the Barcelona metro network, where it tracks a total of 187 station fans and 142 tunnel fans, and processes more than 500 million data points annually. During its implementation, and thanks to the use of disruptive technologies, an average temperature drop has been achieved inside the stations of 1.3ºC, along with an improvement in fan efficiency of almost 21%, an average energy savings of almost 12%, and an increase in traveler satisfaction with the environmental conditions of 10.7%.
