Bioargi, residual forest biomass for energy generation
Valorization project of residual forest biomass for energy generation, located in the industrial park of Lantarón (Alava, Spain).
Includes an innovative 20 MW power generation plant connected to the electricity grid, incorporating modern clean combustion technology with a heat recovery system for industrial district heating. Eventually, a plant to capture, separate and purify the CO2 will be implemented, achieving the plant’s net CO2 emissions balance negative.
The project is completed with the application of digitalization techniques both to the operation and maintenance of the plant (digital twin) and to the management of the biomass supply network and the certification of the renewable origin of the electricity injected into the network.

In addition, the supply of residual forest biomass will have all the sustainability certifications required for the current development of these uses, and will contribute to the prevention of forest fires and the conservation of the surrounding forests.
Bioargi is currently in the permitting phase, with construction scheduled to begin in mid-2024 and operation by the end of 2026. The plant is expected to be in operation for 20 years.
