New FORAN contract with Servicios Industriales de la Marina (SIMA)

The SENER engineering and technology group has signed a contract with Peruvian company Servicios Industriales de la Marina (SIMA) to license the use of the FORAN naval design and construction system at its Iquitos facilities.

SIMA thus remains committed to FORAN as the solution for its naval designs, expanding the number of licences it already had at its Callao Centre to its Iquitos facilities.

The scope of the contract involves the installation of the FORAN system and the purchase of permanent licenses, including the following modules: Forms, General Layout and Naval Architecture; Structure; Machinery and Armament; Electrical Design and Prints. SENER will also provide various training courses for the shipyard's staff. The shipyard expects the implementation of the FORAN system to significantly benefit production, lower costs and improve the quality of its projects.

SIMA, which has been a shipbuilding leader for over six decades, offers a wide variety of vessels, from high and low freeboard commercial ships to front-line naval units.

SENER's FORAN System, a CAD/CAM/CAE software for designing and building any type of vessel and marine structure, has been constantly renewed for over half a century, making it the longest-lasting product of its kind in the market. FORAN is currently at the forefront of technology. It is installed in 40 countries and used in the world's leading programs, some of them in South America.
