SENER receives the Hemendik award for Innovation02/12/2010 (Spain)
The SENER company has won the Hemendik award in the Innovation category, granted every year by the Deia newspaper to different companies and institutions from Biscay. The award comes in recognition of its record since it was founded in Bilbao in 1956, driven by the search for efficient and novel technological solutions. The Chairman of SENER, Jorge Sendagorta, picked up the award from the President of the Biscay Council, José Luis Bilbao, during the ceremony held on Wednesday December 1st, in the Culture Hall of the municipality of Sopelana (Biscay).
SENER is a technology and engineering group that has become an international standard in the areas of aerospace engineering, power and process engineering, infrastructures and transport, and marine engineering. Driven by innovation as one of its core corporate values, complemented by its commitment to quality and independence, SENER has participated in some of the most cutting-edge projects in the world in all its sectors of activities, and now holds numerous patents: from a satellite-based multimedia communication system for high-speed trains, to a noise reduction conduit for static components of aeronautical engines, a robotic assistant for laparoscopic surgery, a docking system for space vehicles, mechanisms in the field of thermosolar power, design and analysis techniques of virtual prototypes for the marine industry, etc. Currently, the FORAN CAD/CAM system for shipbuilding and marine artifacts and the development of new forms of generation of concentrated solar power are but a part of the major investment it makes in innovation and development.
The Hemendik awards granted by Deia, this year into their third edition, are divided into different categories such as Economy, Tourism, Culture, Social action and Sports, and highlight the records of different companies and institutions in the seven regions of Biscay. Petronor, Concesionarios Automóviles Galindo and Puente de Vizcaya are some of the companies and institutions previously honored by these awards.
This award complements another one which SENER recently received, the “Makila of Honor 2010”, by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Navigation of Bilbao for its innovative FORAN System. The award ceremony was held on Monday, November 29th.
