ESA and Airbus recognize the exceptional work done by SENER Aeroespacial in the JUICE mission17/12/2020 (International)
SENER Aeroespacial has been recognized by the European Space Agency (ESA) and Airbus, our client and prime contractor of the JUICE mission (Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer), for the exceptional performance and the timely delivery of our work on both the medium-gain antenna (MGAMA) and the Magnetometer Boom (MAGBOOM) contracts.
SENER Aeroespacial was responsible, on the one hand, for the design, manufacturing, verification and integration of the boom, a 10-m long magnetometer that is used to move the instruments away from the satellite in order to prevent magnetic interference. And, on the other hand, it developed the medium-gain antenna (MGAMA) subsystem, which will support the satellite's high-gain antenna in order to guarantee communications between JUICE and Earth at all times. SENER Aeroespacial's work on the antenna includes its control electronics, as well as all the interconnecting cables and the Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE). The medium-gain antenna will also be used in the scientific experiments that are conducted during the mission.
JUICE is a program of the European Space Agency (ESA) designed to expand our knowledge of the complex interactions between Jupiter and its icy moons: Europe, Callisto and Ganymede. It is scheduled to be launched in 2022 and to arrive in Jupiter in 2030.
