This achievement comes after the Spanish industry joined the Joint Concept Study (JCS) initiated by France and Germany in February 2019 in June of this year. In this way, Spain reaches cruising speed and joins France and Germany in all activities. Our country will maintain a position of equality with its partners in all decisions made in the program, ensuring their participation in the tasks of greatest value.
The Spanish industry has been working for months with an eye on phases 1B and 2, which will give continuity to the project until 2027. Negotiations are progressing at a good pace, within a climate of cooperation of all partners, with the aim of making the project a European success.
The commitment and determination of the Ministry of Defense to turn the NGWS/FCAS into a State Project represents a turning point for Spanish industry: it will participate from the very first stages of development and demonstration of new technologies, which will subsequently make it possible to carry out the design, development and production in 2040 of what will be the most ambitious defense program ever launched on the continent.
This is a strategic project, which will involve a real technological revolution and will enable our industries to compete on equal terms with other European companies. It opens a stage of intense research and development work in new generation technologies of a dual nature, civil and military, which will determine the future of the country. It is also a project that will involve the participation of companies and research centers throughout the national territory.
